While I did enjoy this disc overall, I want to state my two primary problems with it right off that bat. The first is that there are a surprising number of lines that simply aren’t translated on the subtitle track, and these are primary speakers, not secondary off-camera speakers. The subtitles also seem occasionally to go out of synch, being a bit slow to where they should be. The second problem is that they used the dub release masters for this, which was spliced together for the two episodes as opposed to the two separate tapes that were used for the subtitled VHS release. I’m assuming there was some kind of opening sequence for the second episode, so this can probably be considered edited.

The show takes place in the mid 21st century in the newly crappy city of Tokyo. The capital has been moved to Kyoto and Tokyo has become the slum of the land. Once prosperous Ginza is now just a slum of homeless and downtrodden as well as the home of thieves and other evil types. With the police overwhelmed with the sheer amount of crime, a large number of security firms have cropped up and it’s turned into a city where the more money you have, the safer you are. Read more »
